Reimagine Redditch supported a community‑led project in Matchborough that grew from consultations run by Bound Together CIC in summer 2024, which explored local needs around creativity, culture and wellbeing.
These conversations revealed shared experiences of loss – including through illness, suicide and infant death – and a strong desire for collective acknowledgement, remembrance and connection, alongside a wish to engage more deeply with nature at the heart of the neighbourhood.
With funding from ReNEW and additional investment from Reimagine Redditch, a community panel helped commission artist Ildiko Nagy, leading to workshops and the co-creation of a living sculpture at Matchborough Pond in early 2025.
The project culminated in a celebration event that brought people together to commemorate loss, foster peace and encourage renewed pride, wellbeing and use of an overlooked community space.
