A giant Luminarium inflatable sculpture wowed 1,000s of people at GlastonBeoley Community Festival in June 2026 and kick started 3 more years of a bigger, bolder and broader Creative People and Places programme in Redditch.
Hot summer for culture in Redditch
Architects of Air’s world-famous luminous art installation led a hot, sunny summer characterised by high quality artistic spectacle and excellent cultural experiences with communities.
From incredible ‘high-wire’, live public performances by Motionhouse’s acrobatic aerial artists, to Paolozzi-inspired, stunningly vibrant and evocative new public art Machine Dreams and Sun Beams by Alec Saunders aka AlecLDN. It truly feels as though it’s all been happening, here in Redditch.
Our 3 fantastic, co-created community floats at Astwood Bank Carnival reflected the energy, pride and imaginations of the amazing volunteers who designed, built and celebrated their book-based creations. All of which was inspired by, and in support of, the National Literacy Trust’s ‘Go All In’ campaign promoting national year of reading.
Chapter Two of our story promises to be a page turner
These creative collaborations, public performances and community events typify the ambition behind the next phase of the Reimagine Redditch project – a borough-wide programme 3 years in the making, which looks to the future of what people in Redditch can do and be, embedding creativity in communities for years to come.
The strategy includes Reimagine Redditch’s new Amplify workstream, which recognises the need for broader community ownership of local cultural events, and means working closely with major events in Redditch to add to their existing offer. Cue the successful new partnership with the Glastonbeoley event.
Go ‘Beoley’ or Go Home!
The hugely popular Glastonbeoley Charity Community Music Festival – to give its full name – has been running successfully for nearly 10 years, growing annually. The festival has always been a true champion of great live music, performers and bands.
This year, event organiser and local legend, Debbie Joynes teamed up with Reimagine Redditch and charity Arts in Redditch to expand Glastonbeoley, presenting visitors with an extra, very different type of creative experience… an awe inspiring Luminarium art installation.
It’s been an exciting beginning to chapter two of the Reimagine Redditch story.
